advanced Design Education
The Institute of Advanced Design Studies (ADES - AdvancedDESign) is a research institute and a pioneering school of design offering advanced studies in design for sustainability to postgraduate students and professionals from all backgrounds. Our programme has an emphasis on exploring new ways to assess the total impact and potential outcomes of design manifestations.
Our educational platform is to launch a new wave of future literate sustainability thinkers across professions. Our courses are moderated by influential leaders who believe that it is time to engage Design and Sustainability Thinking to solve global challenges and advance designs that will benefit humanity and the environment.

EDUCATION FOR THE SHIFT IN PARADIGM
The current shift in paradigm is from the industrial production model to circular and transformation economy that demands new, sustainable ways of design and value generation.
Inspired by the early Hochschule fur Gestaltung (HfG) Ulm, Germany, ADES brings the theory to bear on practice, to inspire and to influence the actions taken in traditional design, architecture, science, technology engineering (etc.) practices.

APPROACH
At the heart of our approach is an integrated view of Philosophy of Design and Ethics as vehicles for critical and sustainable thinking across all disciplines. ADES functions as a co-lab for design as a Productive Science, Design Philosophy and methodology.
We build our annual courses in Sustainability on transdisciplinary theme based modules.
The students work together to frame and solve a challenge within the given theme, under the guidance of their course instructor.

The Institute aims to effectively apply given theoretical knowledge to resolving a situation by design, while limiting the negative impact of the various consequences, side effects and externalities that are produced by design manifestations.

2. To bring Sustainability Thinking and co-creative design tools, methods and processes to all types of experts, including scientists, technologists, engineers, biologists, ecologists, artists and philosophers.
